Canada or Bust

Whew!  We arrived safe back in Florida.

Our shuttle driver adjusted with our flights and picked us up for delivery to Steve's Florida home Monday night by 11:30 pm.  Thank you, Janice!

The next morning I took pictures of some of the airline tickets we went through just on the trip home.  They aren't all here, we had thrown some away.

We were glad to be able to ride with our bike group on Tuesday morning.

Right away we were getting ready for our next rip.  This trip is with Steve's trailer, a land trip to the maritimes in Canada and then a loop over to Wisconsin.

We have hand warmers that double as phone chargers.  We found on our trip to Europe that the hand warmers would turn on in our backpacks.  Once home, Steve glued an o-ring around the button to keep that from happening again.

I had just moved myself out of my condo before we flew to Europe.  I had piles of stuff in each room.  Stuff to take to Europe, stuff to take on our summer land travels, and stuff just to store until I return to my Condo.

Did I tell you, my condo is rented?  The management company found a traveling nurse that is planning on renting the place until the end of December!  I am pleased.

Anyway, with all the piles, it was a bit chaotic packing.  At one point I was hunting all over for my sunglasses.  I had taken them off to see stuff inside the house.  Steve came in and asked what was wrong, he must have seen the frustration on my face.  He asked me several questions and then he smirked when he looked at my hat.  The glasses were on the top of my head.

We took two days to get the trailer ready and packed.

And we still had time to bike again on Thursday.  We used our trikes. We decided not to take them with us this year.

Most of the riding we will do is on gravel trails.  Our two wheel bikes will work better on those trails.

I am sure there will be times when we will miss our trikes.

When we arrived back from Europe, Steve's neighborhood was quite empty.  Our friends had already headed north.  Some regretted it because it was 40 degrees and rainy up there!

I realize that my good friend, Jean, with ALS, probably won't survive the summer.  I was wondering if I could visit, since I just flew back from Europe and I might be carrying germs.  I talked with her husband.  Jean is on Hospice and we agreed a visit would be worth the risk.

I went to visit her and her husband twice before we left.  She isn't able to talk, though she does well expressing joy at seeing me and sending me love.  She doesn't text or walk anymore.

I didn't stop to see a few other friends due to the fact that we might be carrying germs from Europe.  Have a great summer, Debra and Glen, Beth and Jim, Charlotte and my biking and exercise buddies.

Last year we headed up the east coast and enjoyed a lot of ocean views.

This year we are heading up more inland.
We are stopping to see friends in Charlotte, and to ride the New River Trail in Virginia.

We will spend a few weeks at Steve's New York home.  We are both looking forward to seeing his mom and family.

Our last nights we soaked in a few of the sunsets in Florida.

Steve , always thoughtful,  packed up some home made jam as gifts.

We are on our way!  We only have three hours of travel today.  First stop, One overnight in Georgia.
