It's Been A While

Greetings from Inverness, Florida, I am down with a cold today.  I don't think I have enough energy to do a whole blog.  But I thought I would let you know we arrived home safely from our travels this summer.    We are planning on touring some of the mid-West this summer and this fall we will fly to Croatia for a Bike and Boat tour with our friends, Christy and Mark.  Then we will part with them and fly to Italy for another bike tour.  We may be gone a whole month! Last I wrote to you we were still in Wisconsin. There we got to reunite with new and old friends and see my son and his wife briefly.  We also got to participate with 20,000 others in the No Kings Rally at the Wisconsin State Capital.   Julie and Mark biked and marched with us in Madison, WI.  We met them when we were on a few Withlacoochee Bicycle Riders rides in Florida. Sandy and John came over from the Waukesha, WI area to camp with us in Madison, WI. I have been fri...

There Will Be Great Days

Greeting from Lake Mary, Florida, Last night after I wrote to you, Steve and I walked the side walk and trail to the Honeysuckle.  There we ate dinner.  Bruce will be glad to know we broke our streak of bad luck picking places to dine.  This was yummy.  With spicey green beans, cornbread, black-eyed peas, steamed cabbage, and sweet potato tots for me and catfish and cheezy grits for Steve,   home style southern cooking. It was a cold morning but by 9 am we were starting to peel off a layer. We encountered a group of cyclists doing ...

Going On 70 and Feeling 30

When I returned from the Everglades I parked my trailer at an angle so that the distance from the electric box to my trailer would be shorter and not require an extension cord.   An extension cord provides too much resistance and my air conditioner doesn't cool. Those of you reading this from the snowy north will have a hard time imagining that sometimes we are still turning on our airconditioners here in Inverness, Florida. I like the angle of my trailer, the screen tent can set further from the road.  It is still is in danger in this 55 and older Mobile Home and RV Park.  The flower pot I set by a tent stake to mark it, got smashed last week. I have added some reflectors on tall sticks to try to prevent others from driving into my stuff.   I thought replacing the dust cap (Hub Cap?) on my Weeroll would be easy once I set my mind to it.  So I took measurements and pictures and went to a trailer place.  Nope!  They directed me to NAPA.  ...
