Eclipse Excitement Building

Greetings from the Adironac Park in NY,

This morning we put together a lunch to take with us.  I heated up soup while Steve made sandwiches.  We were both able to work in the little kitchen.  Who says we can't dance well together!

The news has been that the restaurants would be crowded.  The traffic has not been bad yet.

We did a short hike down to Middle Saranac Lake to see if that would be a good place to view the eclipse tomorrow.  It was lovely.  We saw two loons diving in the distance.  One was a juvenile without the white plumage.

We then drove to Tupper Lake where the town has many activities planned for the event.

We got to look through telescopes at the sun and see sun spots.  We got to crawl through a tunnel into a blow up dome.  20 of us participants sat around the perimeter.  In the middle was a projector and an expert.   We learned some of the constellations that will appear when the sky gets dark during the day tomorrow.

We learned that NASA will be live streaming the eclipse at this select site!

We we sitting in the sun on a bench eating our lunch, when we overheard that a professor was about to give a presentation in the cafeteria.

We went inside the school and learned a lot.  We learned that a total eclipse is very different than an annular eclipse.
This kind of eclipse is rare and we are lucky to be witnesses with others all along the path of totality.

We had so much fun we agreed to flow with the crowd and go to Tupper Lake for the viewing tomorrow.  A plus is they have lots of portapoties and people to watch.

After leaving the school grounds we went and bought chairs for tomorrow, and then we went to The Blue Line Brewery in Saranac.

I highly recommend the pizza.  😋 yum!

We watched the women's basketball championship, SC vs Iowa.  I don't normally watch sports, but that was fun.  I was rooting for Iowa.  They didn't win, but it was a good game.

Now we are back at our tiny micro house waiting for sunset.  We will go out again to look at the stars.  It is a clear night in dark place not polluted with city lights.

Sending you some more pictures.  When you are in a Tiny house you need to be creative with storage.

I can't brush my teeth in the bathroom, there is no room for my head over the sink!

I hope you are enjoying your moments.

Six-Month US Tour Starts In Florida

Greetings from Fort White, Florida, We did it.  Despite mishaps and some angst, I am still feeling some angst, we have begun our 2024 Travels. Angst Last year we traveled together but I had Big Blue (my truck) and Lilac (my camper) with me.  And though I moved stuff into Steve's trailer and stayed with him, on travel days I was driving Big Blue on my own, and I had all the stuff that I don't use very often in my truck and trailer nearby. This is our first full season traveling with one truck and one trailer.  I am trying to adjust.  Steve is very accommodating and a good partner for this trip.  It's just me, worrying. And maybe some of the angst is world news, the US 2024 elections, and some of it is worrying about my son.   He just changed jobs and then in a few days he got laid off from the new job making him un-eligible for unemployment because he had not worked there long enough.  He will be fifty this year and I still worry.  So if you k...

Fire, and Wind on "The Rock" (Newfoundland)

It is pronounced New-fun- LAND.  Each time I say the word, I have to say it one or two more times because the new-fun part is said fast and the accent is on the LAND.  NewfunLAND.  Old habits and old pronunciations are hard to break. There are a lot of pictures and stories in this post.  Feel free to skim or dive in, it's your choice.  If you want to dive in, stop here and get your favorite beverage. It's going to take a while. Why Do I Do This Blog? I have several reasons for doing this blog. I blog to remember these adventures and times.  I need a record of what I have done so I can refer to it in the future or to boost my memory. I blog to keep in touch with friends and family.  I emailing and text some.  But I love a lot of people!  And this way you can choose how much you read.  I can't bore you because you can stop whenever you want. I blog to share my travels, joys and mistakes with you so you can have some of the fun or com...

Florida to Maine

Hello!  Long time no write.  I have missed you! I turned 72 this week.  I am fortunate to be one of the active and mobile seniors.  Though my feet snap and crackle when I first get up, and my back demands constant attention to good posture, stretching  and strengthening. I love that I can still walk, get up and down off the floor with ease (most the time), and bike.  I am blessed and grateful for it. We are traveling again.  This time with Steve's truck and trailer.  And the highlight of our trip just happened two days ago.  So read on, skim, or skip.  There are a lot of pictures. **** We left Florida just a week after our plane landed from Europe.  (To read about our trip to the Netherlands, Germany, and the Czech Republic, start here .)  We packed up the trailer and headed out, taking two short travel days to get to Charlotte, NC where we visited our Florida bike and brewery friends, Ann and Jim. We parked and slept in ...
