Days of Reflection and Rest

It is Friday night, October 9, 2020, and I am sitting at my little TV tray-desk in my little Weeroll drinking a little glass of red wine... or purple wine.  It is the last of the wine from the bottle that Jeannie Clayton gave me from the Purple Toad Winery in Paducah, KY.  It is Black and Bruised Red Wine.  It is sweet and potent, as I sip my writing might get silly.  Just warning you. This evening before I sat at the computer I hooked up Lilac and folded up my portable sink and horror of all horrors... I used the campground shower.  I have tried to avoid doing that because COVID might be lingering in the air from the last user. Now I am all hooked up and ready ready ready for.... HOME!  Yes, I leave in the morning and drive to Inverness.   Last I wrote I was feeling down about ending my journey, but the last few days I have stayed in one place on my own.  I have rested and reflected and thought about next spring and summer and fall.  Oh the places I will travel with Lilac!  I have co

Independent Author Illusions - Mouse to Toad

It is a cool grey Monday - 8/3/2020 I am loving it! I am feeling free and healthy and satisfied in spite of some disappointments. This is a picture of the one fire I built this whole trip.  I sat and watched it for 10 minutes.  Then it was done, I was done.  All done. There was a bit of celery that had fallen to the ground, and a corn chip.  I walked around the screen-tent to get a better picture, but the little grey guy was gone. I set the treats outside the hole. Today I saw him again just inside his hole looki

First-Time Seasonal Camper Settling In

7/18/2020 Greetings from Lake George Campground! It is Saturday morning and it is raining.    My neighbor here had warned me last night that there were severe storms in the forecast including possible tornadoes.   She said between 3:00 a.m. and 5:30.   It is now 5:28 and the Weeroll isn't rocking yet. I imagine if I were in my tent-cot I would be stuck in the prone position.     But I have coffee made and I am sitting at my little desk writing to you!   How cool is that!   Smiles. I arrived in Rhinelander on Monday and drove right to my sister’s house.   I disinfected my hands with the hand sanitizer I keep on the console, I put on a paper face mask.   And as I step out of the van I hear my sister running toward me, her arms outstretched.   Oh my!   Oh my!    We sat on her beautiful back deck, overlooking her yard.   It was clear she had been keeping herself occupied during the COVID shut-down by planting flowers.    This is Only the Lonely plant
