Looking Toward Home... and Already Making 2023 Plans

Hello and Happy Fall! Suddenly it is September!  Tonight the temp here in Rhinelander, WI, will dip down to 46 degrees.  I am doing some domestic chores preparing for the journey home. I talked about the trailer's emergency brake cable in my last blog.  Bill D. emailed me and told me how to fix it.  I still didn't get what he was saying until he sent me pictures of the clamps you can buy to clamp onto a cable (to make a loop for example) without having to buy a bulky and an expensive crimping tool. I bought more cable and the clamps and fixed it myself!  Thanks Bill!   I felt a little Rosie-the-Riveter pride as I called Schroeders RV Service center and canceled the appointment I had made with them to install a new emergency brake on my trailer. The cable goes from that little black box to the hitch on my truck.  If the trailer becomes un-attached when I am going down the road, the cable will pull the emergency break on the trailer. Connections

Hello! My nephews wife commented that I have not posted in a while.  My sister replied, "She's been having too much fun!" But it isn't all waisted play-time, some of it is taking care of myself and things.   For Example This morning I got up early, by six, and decided I would write to you before I was to meet up with folks for a "senior" activity that my sister had arranged, a pontoon boat ride at 1:00.  It is kind of a neat program that is in Wisconsin and Minnesota called "Let's Go Fishing".  They give boat rides or take people out fishing.  Qualification to get a free ride, you need to be a veteran, or disabled, or be over ... I don't know what age qualifies as "senior citizen", maybe over 62 or over 65? I needed to go for a walk first to get some exercise in because writing and sitting on a boat are not good for the body.  So I walked on the road by the campground.  There was fog and the woods were popping with the drops fall...

Topping It Off In Wisconsin

Hello, A special shout out to the three guys that advised me through the purchase of my Ford Truck in May, Jim, Bill and Regis. On July 26th I drove East two hours to Freier's Truck Toppers in Appleton, WI, to get the topper put on the bed of Big Blue.  I had ordered the topper in May.  When I pulled into the parking lot, I could see the blue Leer topper already waiting in the garage for me. They found a place for me to sit and wait and plug in my computer.  The chair they gave me was damp, and the inside of the shelter was covered in old spider webs.    I didn't care!  I had more than one line of cell service! I turned on my computer and started to check email and upload a picture or two to this blog.   The owner had told me on the phone the process would take two hours.  But I just got done checking email and my bank account and I had just begun to write to you and bam!  They were done! Dang!  I had been looking forward to s...
